Freedom's Frontier Heritage Traveler

Plan Ahead and Prepare

PlanFreedom’s Frontier National Heritage Area is vast. With so many places to go and people to see, you need to plan out your adventure to experience as much of it as you can. Your heritage area has many types of places you can visit, museums, historical homes, archives, battlefields, heritage farms and parks. All that diversity means that there is something for everyone! But, it also means that you need to figure out how to make the most of the time.

Whether it is for your work, school, or play, doing a little research and knowing what to expect as you plan your next adventure will save you a lot of grief in the long term. Fortunately Freedom’s Frontier and the National Parks Service have done some of that work for you. Check out the Freedom’s Frontier website for helpful information on the sites in your area. This might help in your planning for trips that are a little farther than those you do frequently.

Planning something more rugged than a trip to your local museum? The NPS created this planning guide just for you! These steps are good for those of you heading out into nature, but they can be easily adapted to be included in many other areas of our lives and our heritage area. Being conscientious about how we change and affect the world around us, can only serve to improve and preserve the experiences you have enjoyed the most for those who might one day wish to share in your adventure.

So, why not prepare another trip for this fall? It just might be the best one you’ve ever had, because this time you are planning on it.
