Pose for a Family Photo in a Park

Taking a vacation to visit some of our sites? Make sure to capture the memories you’re making as you’re exploring! Your trip to a park can be a great time and place to get some great family shots. Many sites that have an admission fee have a photographer’s fee, so make sure to call ahead before planning your photos. Choose a site that reflects who you are as a family. Like the rustic backdrop of historic structures? Look into some of historic sites like Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm or Atkins-Johnson Farm & Museum. Like the beauty of nature? Look into  Loose Park, Shawnee Mission Park or the Overland Park Arboretum! Any of our sites could make a great backdrop to a photo, including Maple Woods Nature Preserve, right in Gladstone, Missouri. That’s where this family chose to get some memorable photos.

If you like to take the photos yourself, make sure to get the best light for your photos. The best times for natural light would be in the early morning hours or early evening; you want to make sure to avoid harsh light of mid-day light, they can cause some distracting shadows. Not up to the challenge of taking one yourself? Contact a local photographer who is familiar with the area. This way, you can make sure to get the best photos, and get everyone in!
