Experience Silence

Confederate Memorial State Historic Site

Confederate Memorial State Historic Site

In today’s world, we are constantly surrounded by noise pollution. Even from inside my home, the dehumidifier and refrigerator whir in dissonant tones while the nearby fire station and major thoroughfare provide us with a regular stream of sirens. Let’s give our ears and nervous systems a much-needed break!

Where should you go for quiet and solace? Try a museum! Most of our partner museums offer a quiet place to consider on our nationally-significant history. If you need a further retreat from noise, the Marais des Cygnes Massacre State Historic Site and the Confederate Memorial State Historic Site offer contemplative oases to reflect on our difficult past. Likewise, the area’s historic cemeteries can provide a quite place to consider the past.

Where do you go in Freedom’s Frontier to experience silence?
