Summer has begun and there are so many great events taking place all over the Heritage Area. A fun way to travel the 41 counties is pairing your travels up with some tasty food. It’s a great chance to learn about local food, or visit a historic site and sample some tastes of the past.
If you didn’t get your fill of wine after last month’s Heritage Traveler Insider article on wine tours, check out the Excelsior Springs Wine Festival on June 20th. You can try a lot of different wines from local wineries and enjoy the scenic background of Excelsior Springs.
Love the food truck trend? Independence’s Food Truck Festival is happening on June 27 at the Independence Center with food, live music, a beer garden and family friendly activities. Be sure to check out Kansas City’s Big Picnic 2015! The biggest picnic of the heritage area is happening July 19 at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art’s Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park. And, of course, it wouldn’t be an article about food festivals in Missouri and Kansas without mentioning BBQ.
